Initial meeting with headman Kapuka of Chongwe

We had a productive meeting with Headman Kapuka of Chongwe, where we introduced our agroforestry initiative.

He has organized an awareness session with local farmers next week to discuss the benefits of agroforestry before distributing seedlings.

Headman Kapuka is our third local partner in this initiative, which aims to provide farmers with 100 Musangu and Gliricidium Sepium seedlings to plant alongside their maize.

These nitrogen-fixing trees will enhance soil fertility, improve crop yields, and prevent soil erosion. Our target is over 300 farmers across three villages in Chongwe, organized into groups of 50.

Each group will receive agroforestry training before planting the trees.

Given that Chongwe is a mountainous area with limited rainfall and was severely impacted by the recent drought, these drought-resistant trees will help farmers adapt to climate challenges.
